Another year, another Bolton Food and Drink Festival – and what a festival it was. Once again, the festival broke records and the town was filled with people eating, drinking and enjoying the bank holiday weekend (the glorious sunshine may have helped a little…how lucky were we with the weather?)

It was our 4th year at the festival and as we always like to do, we launched two new products – our vegan pasty and our vegan sausage roll. We knew it tasted good (because we’d tried and tested it so many times) but we were not sure how it would go down with our customers – there’s a lot of pressure to produce a good vegan product. However, we are absolutely thrilled that you loved them both. The feedback has been amazing, so many of you are saying that you can’t tell the difference between our meat products and our vegan products and that even though you’re not vegan, you still enjoyed them – and that’s exactly what we wanted to achieve. We’ve taken all your feedback on board and will continue to work on the recipe so that we can perfect them for you.

It always amazes us that with so many different food options available, people still come to get a pasty. We like to try and have a look around the festival each year to see what’s on offer and there are always so many delicious smells in the air. From noodles and burgers to cakes and fresh bread, there’s also plenty of stalls for gifts, drinks and art. There’s a reason that it’s the biggest food festival in the country!

The events are the festival are always lots of fun, and this year we took part in the Ploughman’s Lunch with The Hairy Bikers (who loved our vegan pasties!) and we also had a stall at the Gin Festival to help people soak up all the gin and rum they consumed while watching the cookery demos by the chefs.

It was another fantastic weekend and one that we are always proud to be a part of – we’re already looking forward to next year!
